The Oregon state tote features towns, cities, the state capitol Salem and the state bird Western Meadowlark, as well as some of the prominent bodies of water, mountains and landmarks in the state. What sets this state illustration apart is that I've included the state's indigenous people and the areas they first inhabited. The original tribes included the Clatskanie, Tillamook and Siletz, Alsea, Siuslaw, Coos, Athabaskans, Takelma, Galice, Applegate, Shasta, Kalapuya, Klamath, Molalla, Chinook, Northern Paiute, Shoshone, Cayuse, Umatilla, Sahaptians, Cayuse, Nez Perce among others. Other tribes moved through the area but these are known as the original inhabitants.
